In order to give you the best of New York, Whitewaller spoke with Bjarke Ingels, Architect and Founding Partner of Bjarke Ingels Group.
“My studio, and my home, is in Dumbo, so I’m very much there. My everyday kind of place in the summer is the courtyard of Gran Eléctrica. It’s this beautiful oasis with walls all the way around and trees, and when you look up, you realize you’re sitting under the Brooklyn Bridge. Then, Usagi—this small gallery/bookstore/gift store/Japanese matcha place that looks like a little Tokyo Embassy in Dumbo. Great little lunch space. And for art, beyond anything, it’s Pioneer Works in Red Hook. I’m good friends with Dustin [Yellin], so I end up there quite a bit, especially on Sundays. Again, it’s an oasis with a garden. It’s an incredible—it looks almost like a fantasy place.”
